Laryngitis

Due to a cold coupled with the teacher training classes I taught yesterday (part of what's officially called the “Eagle Hill School Teacher Training Institute” but I always prefer to call it “Teachers Teaching Teachers Teaching”), which had me speaking almost constantly from 10 to 5, I've lost my voice. I'm working on recuperating today with various remedies so I can at least speak somewhat tonight (I really want to take part in Brian’s secret performance piece) but it's certain I'll have no ability to sing tonight. The thing that worries me is that I endured a similar situation in the autumn of '06 and lost my singing abilities for several months. We'll see.

I'm off to go swallow more tea and honey. I've always wanted to like tea and considering my personality & interests, I feel like I should but I guess I just don't. Kinda like how I feel about reggae music and artists like Talking Heads, They Might Be Giants, Patti Smith, Nirvana and Frank Zappa. I'm supposed to like them but I just don't. They're just not my cup of ummm... apple cider.

Anyway, maybe someday SFTD fands will be treated to a show where I am completely mute, Henning is lying on the floor due to his recurring back problems, Max's pulse is going 300 beats per minute because he'll just have left his office where he works about 115 hours a week, Ken will have had to skip the gig because he'll have six other engagements he's been asked to play that night and Brian, well, he'll just be up there bashing away simply being the coolest kid in the room like he always is.

Hey, I remember that stint where you couldn't sing! Weren't people sobbing in the streets because of that? Yeah, I remember.
I hope you do better this time. I'll drink some tea today in sympathy + solidarity.
