prelude to a Thursday night

(sing to tune of London Bridge)

Today I'm turning 35, 35, 35
Happy Birthday Peter Buck
and Dave Brubeck
(end of song)

So I have to get (finally) my license renewed. I've hated my license photo since it was taken in 2003. Long hair, middle part, weird smile. Gotta do better this time.

After that, well, I took today and tomorrow off from work, to allow for the full spectrum of Turning-35 emotions to be experienced fully.
I took The Kids Are Alright on DVD out from the library. May give it a spin. Haven't watched it in years and years. I used to identify with the young, speedy mod Who parts, and cringe at the stubbly, bloated Who.
Now I'm older than Keith Moon ever was, by a few years.
And the thing is, it's now 30 years after Moon's death, and Townshend and Daltry aren't doing so bad and look like grandpa mods.

I'll also perhaps work on a new song or two and basically relax with cats at home until......

TONIGHT!! The Figments are playing at the Sierra Grill.
Scott Alden--10pm (yes!)
The Figments--10:45
Spanish For Hitchhiking--11:45
(approx. times)

As psyched as I am to be playing on my bday with the band I've been in since I was 23, I'm also REALLY psyched to have some fries...
I mean, to see Spanish For Hitchhiking for the first time in ages...what, you forgot that Dennis Crommett is a guitar hero in his spare time? That SFH has given some of the most intense live performances this writer has seen 'round these parts?

Go, go, go. It's free and 21+.
AND Lord Russ will be making a special appearance during the Figments set. So they tell me. Like my friend said, if you stand still long enough, history catches up with you.
bayatate, figments, russ....
and yet, all the strange, beautiful, and scary things we've all experienced since the last time we all met in that room.

Well, at we've weathered the years and fashions as well as, if not better than:

That Same Song-Beach Boys 1976--look!

does that mean your birthday is 12/6/72?

12 x 6 = 72????

Thanks for sharing those 1976 fashions with us via that youtube piece. Have I mentioned lately that I love Brian Wilson? No? Well, I love Brian Wilson.
Brian Marchese, your birthday rocked.
