Karaoke My Wayward Son

I was always terrified of doing Karaoke. I know that seems strange since I'm generally completely comfortable getting up in front of crowds and singing my own songs. Maybe it was the idea of not having an instrument with me, I don't know.

But, ever since I finally summed up the nerve to try it a few months ago, I can't get enough of it. Here is a list of the songs that I can remember singing since then.

  • They Might Be Giants - Bird House In Your Soul
  • XTC - Mayor of Simpleton
  • David Bowie - Changes
  • Dream Academy - Life In A Northern Town
  • Paul McCartney - Uncle Albert
  • Naked Eyes - Always Something There To Remind Me
  • Paul Simon - Still Crazy After All These Years
  • Paul Simon - Kodachrome
  • Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al
  • Blue Swede - Hooked On A Feeling
  • Joe Walsh - Life's Been Good
  • Styx - Sail Away
  • Lou Reed - Perfect Day

What's your favorite karaoke song to do?

I have never sung karaoke. But I'd love to do Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick." No, not the short radio edit. The entire seamless album.

I've had this fantasy for about 5 years of doing "It's So Funny How We Don't Talk Anymore"
but I always whimp out and do the Monkees or the Smiths.

I have never sung Karaoke in public and have no immediate plans to start. My last recorded singing was to The Traveling Wilburys "Handle with Care".

Hen - should we expect Karaoke in Rangeley this summer?
