Ok, also on that rare video blog:
The Beach Boys on the Mike Douglas show in 1969 (this was the period that they were selling 15,000 records and playing to 250 people--but doing some cool stuff).
Why is this strange?
1) Carl Wilson (guitar player) on drums. Not weird enough?
2) Dennis Wilson (drummer) as lead singer. Seen that before, too? Oh. Ok.
3) They Are Doing "Never Learn Not to Love" which was written by, oh, what's his name....CHARLES MANSON!!! This was about a year before the Tate murders, and Manson was a drug buddy of drummer Dennis, crashing at his mansion with his other naked zombie hippie friends.
It's a weird ass song to begin with. Musically off-kilter, lyrically CREEPY. "Come here...closer..closer...CLOSER!!!...Submission is a gift..."
How did he convince the rest of the Boys to do this? And they thought "Smile" was too weird?
F'd up. Seriously.

Hey Brian, that's a good name for a band: Naked Zombie Hippie Friends. Did you make that up??
"Naked Zombie Hippie Friends" sounds more like a Saturday morning TV show produced by the unholy trinity of Rob Zombie and Sid & Marty Kroft.
