School for the Dead, The Fawns, Sitting Next To Brian, and Lord Russ join a large roster of bands celebrating the anniversary of the Reanimate the Baystate concert series at The Sierra Grille in Northampton, MA

Henning joins Adam Greenberg, Rick Murnane, and Seth Adams for a songwriter in the round show at The Basement in Northampton, MA

School for the Dead, The Fawns, and Sitting Next To Brian are playing at this event on this Thursday along with a long list of other bands, that I can't seem to find anywhere (but I know The Novels and The Claudia Malibu are involved and I think Lord Russ).

We'll be playing brief sets highlighted with our own versions of songs by some good ole Baystate Hotel bands.

School for the Dead will be playing songs by The Claudia Malibu, The Lonesome Brothers, and Drunk Stuntmen.

Should be a fun night.  It starts at 10:00 and the place is staying open an extra hour ('til 2) to fit in all the music.

Names

This year’s student’s names list, I must admit, is not as rich as in year’s past. For one thing, I have a lot of students this year that I’ve had in the past so previous listees like Emily Aronica, Kyleigh Krawczyk and Alejandro Camerieri-Rodriguez are not eligible and I also have fewer students overall this year. So for 2011, I’m limiting the list to 5, with the number 4 and 5 slots actually going to students I had last year but who were squeezed out of that list.

Asher Wilson (the “sound” of the name isn’t what’s so special, it’s the fact that I’m simply reminded of the songwriting credits, [Tony Asher/Brian Wilson] on many of the tunes on one of my favorite albums ever, The Beach Boys’ “Pet Sounds.” Currently, there are three Wilsons at our school and I’ll be working with two of them, while the third possesses a much closer connection to “Pet Sounds” than Asher does.
