Sarah Silverman on Community Auditions

Last night, amidst a conversation in a book and record filled room, a television program called Community Auditions came up. Community Auditions aired in the greater Boston area when I was a kid. It was a sort of poor man's Star Search and I used to watch it all the time. That's where I first saw the band The Purple Stars Sound which our friend and label-mate Lord Russ later joined.

It turns out that Brian was also a fan of the show. In fact, ask him, and he can sing the theme song for you. We started to wonder if any Boston folks who went on to greater fame had appeared on the show in front of our sparkling youthful eyes. So I pulled out my future phone and did a search and what the?!? Look which young southern New Hampshire native we discovered:

"Star of the day, who will it be?
Your vote will hold the key!
It's up to you,
Tell us who
will be star of the day!"

I wanted to be on Community Auditions SO BAD.

I'm a Mass. native and remember the show well.

Dave Maynard lived out his final years here in Citrus County, FL. As did Ted Williams.
