It's that time of the year again. On days like this (the heat index says the temperature feels like it's 234) my walking commute to town exists in large part of trying to avoid the direct rays of the sun. I hop from shady spot to shady spot like they are stones across a river. So, here is a question for those of you with the kind of analytical mind who enjoy conundrums of this sort (I'm looking at you - rest of the Ohlenbusch family).
Which technique keeps you cooler? Rushing through the sunny spots to get to the shady spots or taking it slow and easy through the sunny spots to avoid over-exertion?
This is the kind of thing I ponder as I scan the horizon for the next oasis of shade.
How hot is it? Yesterday my soccer ball exploded in the backyard sun. True story.

Maybe we should bring parasols back into fashion. Carry along your own portable, personal shade.
iShade.
It's funny that you mentioned that, Rick. That is exactly what I did this morning. I held my big purple umbrella between the sun and me all the way to town.
The shade hopping technique was based on yesterday's commute.
Yep. Wise idea to carry one, rain or shine. Smart man.
we've been carrying one of those fan/spritzy bottle things. but as i write this, i'm thinking you're probably not a big fan of being wet, perhaps even a bit of a mist is startling?
how hot is it? last night for supper we had watermelon, grapes, and ice cream!
