Hey Kids,
first off, here are three musical opinions:
1) Coolest intro to a song: This Year's Girl--Elvis Costello and the Attractions (1978)
It's gradual and understated and perfect.
2) Class loser that grew up to be pretty cool-class of 1985: Just Another Night by Mick Jagger. That song is actually pretty damn awesome to listen to now. Try it.
3) Class loser that grew up to be pretty cool-class of 1999: Standing In For Joe by XTC.
At the time it was "oh dear...another embarrassing ditty by Colin Moulding", but hearing it now, imagine it's by Belle and Sebastian. Listen to it and then Step into My Office back to back. Not so bad, huh?
So, what's been up? Well, winter 2007-8 has given me three colds so far. Very strange, as I'd been so illness free for so long. Years, it seems. Go figure.
At least they all seem to last only 2 days or so.
I'm excited for spring and all the performing and recording events that are coming up.
First on the agenda, I'd like to see a show of hands: who is going to the Sierra this Thursday to see Haunt? On said evening, Haunt will consist of Matt Hebert, Thane Thomsen and myself. We'll be performing mostly songs from the upcoming Haunt album, on which I'm the drummpster.
Sierra Grill must think I'm just joining bands to get as much free food and drink out of them as I can.
And they're right.
Hey, kid, wanna start a band? I know a great place we can get an opening slot.
Hey puppy with a sweater, wanna start a band? I know a..
Hey crow with a pop tart in its mouth...
Plus, recording with the Figments, DL, the new SFTD being mixed, oh my.
And I just got a new cymbal with part of my tax return.
I think my new favorite band is The Superimposers. Though I've yet to hear an entire album. Opinions?
