A Happy 65th birthday (actually yesterday) to Michael Nesmith--a big influence on my songwriting and sideburns.
Oh yes, and to Davy Jones too. He's 62.

Hence the cover Monday night! My first musician crushes were Michael Nesmith and Don Williams -- both tall, dark, and sideburned.
Saw Davy Jones on a nostalgia tour with Bobby Sherman & Peter Noone. Jones told a joke about Japanese people being short, and Noone changed the lyrics to "There's a kind of hush all over Big-D 103 tonight." Bobby Sherman was lovely to his fans -- they rushed the stage with their albums and lunchboxes, and he reached down to sign them as he sang.
