Giant steps are what you take, when ning and I are both in working mode.
The new sitting next to brian album rounded third base this past sunday (super what? which bowl? foot who?), and put on the breaks. It has a modest lead, but is playing it safe before finally crossing the plate.
Note, baseball terminology immediately takes hold after football's over.
In any case, I walked into the place hearing music blasting--weird, Henning's blasting some trippy music. What's this some Flaming Lips thing? Not until I realized he was playing along to this music did I realize he was actually laying down a guitar track to one of my songs. Neat-freakin-o.
For the next 5 hours (with a snack break), we reshaped the landscape of one song after I brought up a certain Blur song; On others, Ning added a couple guitar parts; and I sang, played guitar (I've ended up playing lead more than I imagined--being so married to my crazy demo versions) and Arp. The Arp (analog synth from early 70's) makes 2 or 3 appearences throughout. We worked on five or six songs in all.
Next, are the 3 guest appearences. Two of them making return appearences from the last SNTB and one making his first. No sax or accordion this time out, sorry.
unrelated: have you all seen Neil Young and Devo circa 1979? Thanks to Ken for telling me about this.
