Paul Simon Tribute Tonight at the Elevens

Tonight right here in Northampton at The Elevens, there is a Paul Simon tribute night. A number of local performers will be doing a short set of Paul Simon songs. I have mine all picked out but it wasn't easy, I'd love to play them all - or almost all (I'm looking at you "You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies).

It's very rare that one of these tribute nights is held where I know ALL the songs that will be played. You know, like they had the David Bowie / Iggy Pop one and I didn't know half of the tunes. But, tonight, I will be in a whole different boat. Might be a good thing, might not. Here is some more information from the organizer of the event, Marty:
Some of the songs scheduled to be played:Duncan, Me and Julio, Homeward Bound, Something So Right, The Boxer, Graceland, Overs, 50 Ways, Still Crazy, I Am A Rock,Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Kathy's Song, Kodachrome, America, Mrs Robinson, You Can Call Me Al, Leaves That Are Green, Slip Slidin' Away, Mother and Child Reunion, 59th St Bridge Song, Scarborough Fair, The Only Living Boy In New York, Hazy Shade of Winter,Richard Cory, Learn How To Fall, The Sound Of Silence, My Little Town, So Long Frank Lloyd Wright, Red Rubber Ball, Was A Sunny Day, Late in the Evening

Some of the folks scheduled to play:Adam Sweeney, Rick Murname, Henning Ohlenbush, Marty Helly & Friends, Lord Russ, Marni & Melissa, Mya Elaine, Timothy Owens, Shawn Fogel, Katy Schneider, Mark Mulcahy, Peter Schindel, Bruce Mandaro, Philip Price/Winterpills

Should be a fun night. Starts at 9:00 at the Elevens, Pleasant St, Northampton

Hope to see you late in the evening tonight.

wow. sounds really fun. maybe i should try to instigate one here in SF. and i was just thinking about mr. simon, not only because of his new soon-to-be-released record but also because i was looking at rolling stone's list of the top 500 songs of all time and of all 500 there is exactly ONE paul simon song (though there were a few S&G tunes), and it's *graceland* pulling in at #476 or something like that. i mean, i like that song and all but sheesh. sure these lists are silly, but to only list that one paul simon songs just seems criminal. so, what songs did you play?

my verify word to post a comment is "argduoh".

argduoh!! sorry I just stubbed my toe.

if you do try to start a simoon tribute night, do these things: plan it in advance, promote it.

those were the two ingredients missing from last night's event. which of course, led to an almost complete lack of an audience.

still, the people that were there, were into it.

i played: homeward bound, something so right, the boxer, and overs

later lord russ played punky's dilemna and red rubber ball and I joined him for the only living boy in new york.

other songs that were played included: america, kodachrome, kathy's song, me and julio down by the schoolyard, duncan, was a sunny day, late in the evening, american tune, message on an underground wall, you can call me all, mrs robinson, bridge over troubled water, leaves that are greens
