Henning Invited To World Party

Are you a fan of World Party? Are you a fan of World Party like I am a fan of World Party? No? Huh.

I've been a fan ever since their second album "Goodbye Jumbo". It's strange, actually, to refer to World Party as "they". I have always thought of them as "him". Karl Wallinger is World Party.

I've been a super-fan ever since I heard the song "Take It Up". Love it. Perfect song. In the last 20 years, World Party has only put out five albums. I would say that about half of each album is awesome.

What about "Is It Like Today?", you must like THAT song.

A month ago or so, I heard a song on the radio while driving on 91 South. "What Does It Mean Now?" was the chorus. I turned it up. "Is this a new World Party song?!" I said. Then I listened some more..natural sounding recording...some weird synthy strings...tamborine...sunny mood...catchy chorus...harmonies...that simple voice..."This is definitely World Party," I replied.

Then a month ago, I saw that World Party was playing at The Iron Horse at the end of May. "Hey, I'd like to see that!"

Then yesterday, I got confirmation that I was going to be the opening act for that show. How cool is that?

Who ever thought of seeing World Party live? Hadn't occurred to me, the albums were always such great studio productions, but I'm very excited to see what it is like.

And of course, I'm excited to share the stage and to play for an audience with similar musical tastes as mine. A sold-out audience, no less. Yes, it will sell-out for sure. Probably, it'll see out in advance sales. Why not? It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance most likely.

You can get tickets from the Northampton Box Office here: World Party Ticket

And I also recommend a quick read of the "about" section at worldparty.net. It's an interesting tale of betrayal, loss, and the aneurysm that Karl Wallinger has recently recovered from. The man with half a head, he calls himself. Go read it.

I am a huge fan of WP. I am so glad you'll be opening for them. But I am angry beyond belief that I will not be around for the show due to unbreakable previously-made plans

F**K!
