Buffalo Tom

When's the last time you listened to Buffalo Tom. Yeah, me too.

Well, I'm listening to their first album now. I hadn't realized how poorly recorded this was. I used to listen to it all the time in like what? 1988?

I had a pre-release demo version of the album first, which I devoured. Then they released the actual album and it was pretty much identical - maybe it was mastered or remixed or something.

They were local boys. I saw them a few times in the basement of dorms at UMASS. I really liked them, as a three piece they made a lot of noise.

My favorite track was (and still is) The Bus, which I believe takes place on the bus between Northampton and Amherst. I remember this track very well from the beginning of their story as a band.

There's a nice dark Replacementsy feeling to the track, with hints of the sometimes yearning sound of older R.E.M and, man, they must have been huge fans of Bob Mould and Husker Du, eh?
