Hi,
back from the North West. It was all very comfortable and nice.
Coming out of a Safeway on the WA/OR border one late night I asked, what is that sound in the distance?
The answer: sea lions defending their turf.
And I thought the cricket chorus outside Northampton's Stop and Shop was cool.
I was introduced to the whimsy of (former) K Records artist Dennis Driscoll,a very entertaining, gracious person who dislikes being known as "twee".
One young lady, when he said this in Portland, leaned over and asked me "Did he say 'Twink'? Like Syd Barrett's drummer?".
I said "no, twee". Then thought that this young 20-something with lots of eyeliner and obviously on some drugs, was probably a huge Syd Barrett fan. Who the hell else knows this odd bit of info? I mean I know this bit of info, but we were probably the only two within a 50 mile radius. Syd Barrett and Paul McCartney kept popping up in weird coincidental ways the whole week.
Shortly thereafter she and her posse left.
Australians are nice too. Namely Youth Group/The Vines.
Seattle scenery is cool and an east coaster would say, if you could smoosh together the Cape and the Berkshires, you'd have a portion of the area's natural beauty.
The new common thing overheard at indie rock shows "I'm on Myspace..."
Couldn't make it to the Boston show? Don Lennon and I may play The Flywheel soon. We've got a nice act going. I'll let you know.
