sex drugs and coco puffs

I was reading a book today called sex drugs and coco puffs by Chuck Klosterman (writes for Spin and other things).
There are some funny chapters:

1) in one that I know Ken would identify with, he defends Billy Joel. Poor Billy is not cool like David Bowie; and also isn't so uncool that he's cool, like Neil Diamond. He's just uncool.
And yet, Klosterman writes, his string of albums from the late 70's to the very early 80's are chock full of great, great songs.
I admit I was shocked when, on separate occasions I heard Ken, Henning and Russ profess an appreciation of Billy Joel.
I know the hits, I like a few of them, but I probably missed the Billy boat.

2) He talks about going to "adult" parties, i.e. when suddenly all your friends have kids and the parties are geared towards that. No one gets too wasted, everyone watches the 11:00 news and goes home.
It was at one of these parties when the author and 3 other guys who had no familial ties present gravitated toward each other and one produced some marijuana.
After the smoke session, they spontaniously invented a game called "Monkeees=Monkees".
The object was what band=what tv show?
It totally reminded me of something a band would play on a long van ride.
Here's what they came up with (yes, I wrote it down) I admit I don't get some of them, but I wasn't there.

Jimi Hendrix=Twilight Zone
Rolling Stones=Gunsmoke
The Strokes=24
Devo=Fernwood Tonight
Lynard Skynard=Beverly Hillbillies and so Molly Hatchet=Petticoat Junction
Black Crowes-That 70's show
Hall and Oats=Bosom Buddoes
U2=MASH (because they both get progressively preachy with time)
Dokken= It's Your Move (Jason Bateman's teen series)
Eurythmics=Mork and Mindy

Beatles solo=spinoffs, so...
John=Maude
Paul=Frasier
Gerorge=The Jeffersons
Ringo=Flo (I didn't get that at first, then it hit me)

and David Lee Roth solo= Knotts's Landing
