Whilst taking my shower, a few more things became clear to me. Last week, we went on vacation, camping out in Lake George (hint- it ain't named after Steinbrenner or Jefferson, but a sovereign, natch). Our original plan was to swing through Cooperstown on Friday and visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, which honors the most famous players of our national pasttime but we ended up coming home early on Thursday. This was fortuitous in that we were able to head out to Hardwick and sign my contract and see our new house without Shelly having to take time off from work.
When you first enter Hardwick, there's a wooden sign that says "Welcome to the Village of Hardwick" and we were struck by how "English countryside" the sign and the surrounding rolling meadows looked. On this day when were supposed to be learning about baseball, we were musing about how our new home reminded us of England. Also, on Monday, Shelly pre-ordered a copy of the new Harry Potter novel and watched the preview of the next film installment coming out in November.
AND guess what language we spoke exclusively on Monday? Yup.
Jerks.
