So who's going to cover The Pelicans at the New-York themed Transperformance this year?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I always associated Steely Dan, Three Dog Night and certainly Tim Buckley with Southern California. Yes, no? Brian?
Yeah, I'm not big on the 3 Dogs either but I do know that Danny Hutton was pals with Brian Wilson in the late 60s, which made me almost certain they were So. Cal-based.
Actually Wilson wrote and produced an early single for the group (when they were still known as "Redwood") that's not bad. The Beach Boys later recorded the tune themselves ("Time To Get Alone") but both versions are tasty.
So you didn't make any effort necessarily but now you know sumfin bout 3dog.
Let me erase that question mark for you, Brian. Becker and Fagen met at Bard College, which is at Annandale-on-Hudson. I had a girlfriend in college who went there. The song "My Old School" is full of references to the college.
