Herb: gary was here this week
Henning: hi gary
Herb: and we made a demo every night
Herb: that was kind of fun
Herb: too late for flyers
Henning: cool, did you post the demos on your website like i just did
Herb: you posted demos?
Herb: no, ours are too yucky still.
Henning: a demo
Herb: link please?
Henning: mine's wicked yucky - actually i don't even remember how the song goes
Herb: so if you don't remember, how can you even say it's yucky?

Henning: i’m assuming, since i wrote it and recorded it in about 45 minutes
Herb: those are the best kind
Herb: why take hours when you can take minutes?
Henning: maybe
Henning: it's tough putting something like that out there though
Herb: yeah...why did you? (i haven't heard it yet, that's not a criticism)
Henning: an experiment I guess
Henning: an experiment in putting myself out there
Herb: putting yourself out there? what does that mean?
Henning: hmm
Henning: well, letting my guard down?
Herb: huh. got it.
Herb: that's a good experiment then
Henning: i guess
Herb: is that a real piano?
Henning: no
Henning: there's an old woman in the rain IN the fountains outside picking up pennies.
Herb: wow
Herb: that's something, huh?
Henning: it's kind of an amazing thing to be seeing
Henning: she's got a purple floral dress on and a black overcoat
Henning: the hem of the dress is just touching the water
Henning: she's got a scarf on her head and looks like a nice witch
Herb: wow
Henning: now she's gone
Henning: i just listened to my little song and that was the video for it outside my window
Herb: it's a very nice vocal - i like the song
Henning: thanks
Henning: you know when you just write a song and it feels kind of magical?
Herb: yeah
Henning: and then you make a demo and it feels like you really captured the mood regardless of the performance?
Herb: well, sort of. it doesn't happen all that often, but yeah
Herb: yeah, totally.
Herb: that i know
Henning: well, this is the first time, i think, that i have just shared that
Henning: so, that was the experiment
Herb: congrats - how does it feel?
Henning: well, the kindly witch in the fountains kind of freaked me out
Henning: but it feels good
Herb: heh
Herb: cool
Herb: well, it's a totally good thing to have put out there
Herb: the thing is - who you tryin' to impress besides yerself anyway?
Henning: exactly
Henning: i've been caught up and brought down lately by trying to promote things
Henning: and i started asking why did I used to record songs even when i never played shows and nobody even ever heard them
Herb: yeah
Herb: totally
Herb: promoting things is a drag - so unrelated to what's cool about making music (for me anyway)
Henning: right
Henning: would it be ok if i copied and pasted this conversation into the rockumentary?
Henning: i can change your name if you want
Henning: or I can just write a paragraph instead
Henning: no biggie either way
Herb: sure, do what you like
Henning: cool
Henning: i will change your name to Herb so's i don't give out your secret aim name
Herb: heh. ok.
Henning: and i will change mine to Darth Vader
Herb: you always get to be darth vader.
