We've been working on metrical poetry in creative writing workshop and when I prepare a lesson for the class, I always try to include my own compositions, which as you can imagine, they always find so much more interesting than the selections I pick out by other authors. Hey, that's okay- I don't mind ranking above Keats and Petrarca and Basho. Anyway, we did haiku today and one of the ones I wrote is SFTD-experience-based. Amazingly, one of the students understood exactly what was going on in this piece that I thought was limited by the minimalism of the form.

I'll have tea tonight
I don't want hot chocolate
What does oolong mean?
