SFTD On The Scene Town Scenetownscene

Spotted at the Camper Van Beethoven show at Pearl Street: Frank from King Radio...Sheryl Hunter from the Greenfield Recorder....who else? Not You.
In fact walking in there, I thought maybe I had the wrong night. Ok, the Pixies sell out the Mullins Center in 3 hours, and CVB, a band of not as much influence, but definitely of as much importance, gets 50 people downstairs at Pearl St? I've played to more people at Pearl Street. And who am I? Well you should ask. At an establishment last night where the Red Sox were on, a woman talking to Lord Russ and me knew much about 3 or4 of my bands, and named the singers of all of them, and owned CDs, but swore she'd never seen me before in her life. Maybe I'll try my hand at robbing banks. Or tell people I'm Mark Bellhorn.
So CVB, if anyone cares:
--David Lowery has a Paul from Treefort kind of stage presence.
--he made a quip about half the crowd now being on the faculty, and it was nice to see their faces again 20 years later.
--they did on average 5 songs from each album, in blocks. Lassie? yes. Interstellar Overdrive? yes. Joe Stalin's Caddilac? yes. All Her Favorite Fruit? yes.
I hoped for "She Divines Water". Didn't get it. Got "Turquoise Jewlry", which, ehh...
But it looked like they all were having fun, if at times a little bored.
