I listened to some of Smile last night but I was in a tired and pre-cold state of mind so I don't really recall much besides some pretty harmonies. I also listened to the High Dials, which Brian and I learned about from the in between music playing at The Eagles during the Elvis Encore Show. Good stuff.
The Elvis show was great and the opening acts were super cool. Our very own Brian played the part of Neil Diamond. He did five solo acoustic songs and taught us all the history of Neil in between each song in a matter-of-fact and hilarious conversational tone. Brian, you had the audience in the palm of your hand.
Philip Price, of course, did a wonderful Leonard Cohen set (complete with candle and wine bottle). Thane Thomsen performed as Paleface, (A New York musician that nobody knows, but that you can't help respecting since Thane is such a fan). It was nice. And Rick Murnane was called up unexpectedly and helped Russ out by playing a nice set of George Harrison.
Lord Russ' Elvis Encore Show was excellent, you knew it would be.
