Spring Training has begun. I can't see the Sox going all the way this year (though one can hope) but the new guy Epstein seems to be making moves for the future rather than desperately grabbing at free agents and signing them to huge contracts. That's precisely what the Yanks have done and I predict this year will be a mess for them. Some of their players will do well and carry the team (Soriano will be huge this season); others will be abysmal and drag them down (pick an aging starter). OK, so the Sox always fail but that's what makes it so fun to root for them- when they do win one of these years, it'll be beautiful, like Ralphie in the Christmas Story beating up the neighborhood bully. How can somebody root for Steinbrenner and the Yankees? That's like hoping Bill Gates wins the lottery.
