Hey, folks---
Please don't let this be a deterrent in your decision to come out this Friday but now that I've explained to three people in person, I'll bring it up again here on the Rockumentary: This Friday nights' show isn't quite the SFTD you're used to seeing. It's not Henning solo or an unplugged set either. Basically, it's Henning playing and singing the usual SFTD songs with Max playing bass like usual and Ken playing keyboards and singing some backup vocals. The songs will be arranged somewhat differently, given that there's no drums or electric/secondary guitar. Brian and I aren't participating in the show whatsoever (no bongos or acoustic guitars) and this is just an opening slot for Freedy Johnston so even though Brian and I will be at the show in person in the audience, it won't be like the JB4 at Harry's where Russ could come onstage for an impromptu full Steamtrain reunion. It's really just the trio of Henning, Max and Ken as I described. Nonetheless, as others have pointed out, it is a dream billing- Henning is a huge fan of Freedy Johnston and there's a significant influence of Johnston's on Henning's songwriting. Freedy himself is employing a stripped-down approach to his set that night (that's why SFTD accomodated with a similar setup) so the evening will be a wonderful night full of incredible songs with tasteful, more intimate musical arrangements. Not inferior (or superior) to the usual full five-piece SFTD at all, only different. See you there!
