Am I the first to post on the Living Rockumentary v. 03? Woohoo, happy new year all. I spent an enjoyable new year's eve with old friends and new, eating yummy tapas and drinking all sorts of things. By midnight our group had managed to worm our way through the masses on Main street, Northampton, to watch the ball rise, the pitiful (but fun anyway) fireworks, and the guys mooning us from the windows of the Calvin above. The first thing I saw in 2003 were a pair of asses, and I wonder if that has significance on the year to come. I guess I only need to look as far as the White House to answer that.
Then it was off to Harry's, where we met up with Henning and Lisa. The Drunk Stuntmen, who I had not seen in a long time, were a lot of fun. At least, I thought so. After a few songs (especially the Skynrd two-fer) our gang was Southern-rocked out and decided to hail cabs home. A splinter group came back to our house for more inebriation, and I played bad dj. It didn't seem that way in the moment, but when I got up at noon yesterday and looked through the stack of stuff I put on it was a weird mix of Duran Duran, Pearl Jam, Charles Mingus and Queen. Hm. A bonus: in the Mingus jewel case was the copy of a Go-Betweens' disc I had been looking for for ages.
