Aaah, New Year's Eve 2002 going on 2003. (It's a Christian holiday, you know)
Remember Y2K? Sheesh, it's nothing but a punchline now. It seemed pretty reall at the time, though. I remember the Aloha Steamtrain was playing a big New Year's Party at The Northampton Brewery and I was doing the countdown to midnight. When we reached "Happy New Year!" the lights were still on, nothing exploded.
Remember Y2K001? I had thrown my back out the night before and was srtuggling to play the bass. I sat in a chair for our First Night Show. Russ gave me a muscle relaxer and I managed to make it through the Baystate show. The next few days there were some big snowstorms, Lesa and I went on our first date on New Year's Day and it was stretched out by mother nature's white-out, which stopped time altogether. At least that's how I remember it.
Remember Y2K002? The Aloha Steamtrain was playing their last show ever at the beloved Baystate Hotel. I have a video tape.
What will we remember about Y2K003? I will be at Harry's tonight for the Drunk Stuntmen show. I might pop into town to watch the crowd watch the ball rise. I really don't know. It's kind of exciting though.
Do we have New Year's Resolutions? Hmm. Here's some I am considering (off the top of my head).
1.) Put more energy into music. Especially in trying to overcome the horrors of talking to strangers and booking shows and getting press.
2.) Put more energy into photography. I resolve to not only take more pictures but to print up the good ones and display them somewhere and pass them on to friends.
3.) Try to eat better and exercize more.
4.) Take more trips.
5.) Kick Tony out of the band for real.
This is going to be our year. I can feel it.
