what a good month for the Brit mags

There's Mojo and there's Uncut. UK music mags that blend the historical and the new. This month, they both have Mick and Keith on the cover. Mojo has circa '68, Uncut has circa '08. After all, there's that Scorsese movie about to come out.

In any case, they each feature awesome articles on personal faves, both of which burst a few bubbles in my revisionist mind.

In Mojo, there's a feature on Harry Nilsson. Burst bubble: when he came on the scene, he was viewed very skeptically and scornfully by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks. They thought he was an east coast con man, ready to do anything for money. Later they all were friends.

In Uncut, a feature on Michael Nesmith's post Monkees "cosmic country" First National Band (which released 3 great albums in 18 months) tells us that not only did Nesmith and fellow L.A. based cosmic cowboy Gram Parsons never meet, but that some of the Flying Burrito Brothers were seen laughing at the First National Band when the two bands once shared a bill.

Well, whatever. 35 years from now, my laughing during a Spouse show may be taken all out of context. It sells magazines.
