Thanks to all the people who came out to the Sierra Grill last Thursday to see The Figments play. That it was my bday made it all the more special. Because otherwise, I wasn't thinking I'd be landing too gracefully on 35. But from the comfort and shelter of my drums and the other (bigger, taller) Figments, and an arsenal of awesome songs, I was safe.
Of course it was weird playing those songs in the Baystate after so many years. And to do "Heaven's Take", the classic Thane/Lord Russ collaboration, well, too much, man.
No thanks to yesterday's storm. I was out doing the library thing, and was in Longmeadow when it started. 20 mi. later I'm in East Longmeadow and wondering how that much snow could fall so fast? I ditched the rest of the libraries and headed back to headquarters. This took 90 minutes (should take 25).
Then, my ride home (Deerfield to Noho) took 2 hours. I went Rt 5, and that was cool (had to stop 3 times to get the ice off the wipers), but North King Street to my house took an hour.
I came home after all this and was about as tight and uptight as one could be. Arggghh.
We did take a nice Wintery Wonderlandy walk downtown, to find almost everything closed. It was neato. And the xmas tree looked really classic, with gobs of snow--real snow--all over it.
You know, growing up in So. Cal, my first memories of snow are how they would import real snow and put it in the middle of the air conditoned malls around xmas.
I think I may post something about the best new music I heard in '07. Next time.
I gotta hit the cleaners then go to work.
