Rub Wrongways Records Mix Tape Voume 1

It's here! The Rub Wrongways Records Mix Tape Voume 1 has arrived and is now available. It features 16 songs from 15 Rub Wrongways albums.

Each CD only costs $6.00 (shipping, as always, is included) OR it's FREE with the online purchase of any other Rub Wrongways CD! How's that? Okay?

Here's the skinny on the thing:

Rub Wrongways is a record label.
No, it’s not.

For several months at a time, laconic lanky lad Henning Ohlenbusch will keep poking that red button on the screen, clogging his hard drive with wistful words and melodic music, until the electronic beast has had enough, whereupon it rears its head back and belches out another Rub Wrongways product in the form of a School For The Dead release, Ohlenbusch solo collection, or Fawns disc, the latter courtesy of the lovely, lilting, lyrical Lesa Bezo’s notebook of tuneful tunes.

On the other hand, it might be the muse of Ari Vais arm-wrestling its A.D.D.-addled owner into whipping off another EP of hooky punky pop nuggets via his Pelicans project. Speaking of A.D.D., ….As I said, speaking of dots of ellipsis… which suggest hesitation… and/or omission… someday Anthony Westcott will perhaps maybe probably complete a musical project of his own since cobbling together his Imaginary Discography in 2001. Lapping him in the meantime is fellow School For The Dead and Humbert bandmate Brian Marchese, who has bashed out two solid solo discs of trippy traps-happy pimpin’ pop in the last four years.

In other news, Rub Wrongways Records keeps the venerable Humbert catalogue in stock, boasts the third and final Aloha Steamtrain album among its wares and has even opened its arms to accommodate the masterfully sculpted oeuvre of the Bourgeois Heroes.

This compilation assembles one highlight per proper release from the first five years of the existence of the Rub Wrongways Records recording label (no, it’s not). Reduced to the simplest idea, Rub Wrongways serves as a collective clearing-house for musical projects indulged in by the former members of the band Humbert in its final incarnation (Ari Vais, Anthony Westcott, Henning Ohlenbusch and Brian Marchese). And yet it’s so much, much more.
