On Saturday I played a solo gig. Birthday boy, Jason Bourgeois, started off the night at six and played for about half an hour. He was great. He introduced some new songs and played some favorites from his band The Novels. He switched back and forth between acoustic guitar and ukelele. He even had Novels bassist Mike join him on a number fo numbers. I stepped up myself and played tamborine on two songs and melodica on the always awesome Bavarian Baby.
Jason really shines in this kind of stripped down performance. His voice never sounded better and it sits real well with the acoustic guitar. Two cheers.
I had a fun time playing my set. I played some of my new songs and even debutted a brand new one (whatever brand new means). I was scheduled to play from 6:30 until 8:00. When I thought I was almost done, I looked at my watch (cell phone) and saw that it was only 7:00. I still had an hour to go. Awesome.
I pulled out some covers that I used to play, Something So Right (Paul Simon), Valley Winter Song (Fountains of Wayne), and Kiss Me, Son Of God (They Might Be Giants). That last one I comically destroyed while frantically narrating my own attempt to find the right chords.
It was a good early show all around. I even sold my first CD using my new credit card swiping machine, to a nice young lady from Maryland.

Henning, I often forget what a great guitar player you are! You're set was fantastic with a nice batch of new material and older favorites.
Thanks for letting me play on "It's Now". The credit card machine was fantastic, too.
