A young Lesa Bezo, perhaps

Another one of my students has dipped her toe into the singer/songwriter business. We have collaborated on two songs now. She writes lyrics and comes up with a melody (she doesn't play any instruments) and then we work together to have me frame the melody with the appropriate chords. Everything is so immediate with this kid. Her first song featured only verses and choruses so I explained to her the concept of a bridge and provided an example of a good one("In My Life," I think) and boom, the next day, she had a bridge. This immediacy extends to punitive matters as well but we won't get into that here.

So, she has just established her own myspace music page. So far it contains that first (bridge-less) song which we co-wrote and then recorded at RubWrongways last month, with the help of Ken Maiuri on keyboards. I agree with Henning that the overall sound is reminiscent of Cat Stevens but her voice also calls to mind a young Lesa Bezo, perhaps.
