Because I wanna invite you to a multi-band show at the Eagles Club/Nest, with a great bill put together by the man upstairs.
"brian, i don't believe in god"
"brian, my god isn't a man"
"brian, my god walks among us, not in the sky"
Hey, that's great. But I was talking about Scott, a man (boy, actually. Don't let the moustache fool you) who lives in the apartment above me. He put together this bill.
"dude, God books the Eagles? Can I send him my press kit?"
Nnnhhhuu...(annoyed, just-brush-it-aside noise)
I love 25 minute sets. If you do too, there'll be a lot of them. And you'll get to bed at a decent hour Sunday night, but still will have experienced SO MUCH as well as supported local music, indie music, live friggin music and musicians.
The rest of this email will be cut and pasted from hampmusic.com and will give you all the information you need. (and, 2 notes regarding the below post: I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, so sorry to disappoint anyone with my lack of Hot August Night spazz hair; and kudos to Scott for the "clever" reference at the end. Read on...)
No, it's not a benefit for the for the rarely seen and surprisingly timid (despite it's massive, olympic pool wingspan) MONSTER EAGLE of Sur America, though lord knows they could use all the help they can get.
This is a benefit for Northampton's Eagles Club, a non-profit venue that's in a bit of trouble. TONS of awesome, talented, creative folk are donating their time to help the Eagles Club make neccessary renovations and stay open. It is is, indeed a MONSTER line-up:
6:30 LEVELETTE(SOLO)(desperate psychey pop songs covered in grime)
7:00 THRILLPILLOW(choppy gutteral indie rock safari. Great guitar work and some of the best "vocal riffs" around.)7:30 TERRORIST(Hardcore with Aerosmith wings on the "A." Sounds like dreams coming true)
8:00 TAL VEZ(one dude with lots of pedals. Kind of like a shoegazer biker. Manages to sound like a 4-track recording live, which is way rad.)
8:30 ABEJA(they'll be likely performing as a duo, which is such a treat. Like having a really great dinner party, then seeing a deer on the way to your car.)
9:00 MARK MULCAHY(uncommonly great vocals, confident, barebones pop. Really special.)
9:30 SITTING NEXT TO BRIAN(a warm tropicalia wind blowing through Neil Diamond's full Hot August Night era head of hair. Freaky, original pop.)
10:00 SPACE CAPTAIN(they won't let you bring yr bong-necklace into the club, but you get the idea. At the same time, though, it's what kids should listen to on their paper route. Gum smacking, summer stuff.)
10:30 SUE(bright noisy heart breakey pop that does you so right if you been done wrong)
11:00 MARK SCHWABER BAND (Schwaber's gorgeous vocals and fragile songs are in no way incongruous with his wall of noise shredding. It is a wonder to see him pull it off. And the band is effin' tizzight right now.)
five bucks for like, over a thousand bands. 21 plus. It really does start at 6:30. Cheap beer. Come spend yr "Sunday" with "us."
It's gonna be fun.
xo scott
