Since I seem to have taken it upon myself to inform our readers of xtc news (or, non news), I offer the following (which may be of interest to others because a) all sftd members are certified fans to one extent or another and b) xtc's stock has risen since it's become cool for new bands to say they're influenced by them)....
anyway... this just may be the last thing I write about them.
I've read 2 interviews in a row with Andy Partridge in which he relates a recent conversation with his (only remaining) band mate Colin, in which the latter basically said he was all through with music, had no interest in it, hadn't done anything recently...and (the kicker) he had moved and didn't tell Andy where. Andy seems to be in denial about this, because in both interviews he says it's probably just writer's block (yeah...for a decade).
There's a new Partridge song (free download) up on
http://www.amazon.com/gp/gss/detail/10840
if you scroll down and look for the link on the right hand side. (2 rainbeau melt)
It's more interesting than other recent things...but please, Andy, if you insist on a drum machine, some more interesting programming might be nice.
I am somewhat interested in the upcoming improv album he made with Barry Andrews, of the punky xtc 77'-78 days, and later, Shreikback (who I never really got).
yours in unabashed nerdiness,
Brian
