MASSmoca Weekend

MASSmoca runs a tight ship. They're top notch.

All of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning took place in North Adams, MA, surrounded on all sides by hilly-mountains, beneath a lazy orange summer sun, on the banks of a cement river basin.

The weekend went swimmingly. There were fun and productive rehearsals which led up to a very satisfying performance of the Rosenbach Company.

We were put up in the museum housing, which is a series of apartments a few blocks a way. Brian and I shared one flat and it immediately became home to us.

I got to spend a good two hours roaming through the enormous museum itself and I saw some wonderful works. It was relaxing and inspiring and removed-from-the-world.

The staff and crew at the museum theatre were incredibly accomodating. It's such a pleasure to perform in an environment where everyone is interested in making it the best it can be, where people are polite to each other. This kind of gig is so far removed from the sometimes cold and angry world of rock clubs that I hesitate to even compare the two things.

The sound on stage was perfect, so all of our energy could instead be spent on the performance. It felt more musical to me, more expressive than any of our previous shows. It felt good.

I want to go back and do it again.
