long long song

After writing that post I remembered a song that I wrote back in 11th grade, with the most obvious debt to Syd (and I know Russ and probably Ning was doing the same thing around then)

I wrote the words and my friend matt wrote the music

Climb by Brian marchese age 17

crickets wail away on a whale's back
picking the skin off of a ripened pear
and the whale seems perfectly happy
he doesn't seem to care--i know him very well

a toboggin-cave full of rats and bats
that cat tries to avoid sour milk
chocolate wrapped in paper mache
climb in it--see if it's silk
although I doubt this

if I climbed a rich, yellow-belly dancer
could I still see the queen
after all these years I don't fancy her
though i know where she lives

show me your smile, magnified girl
the intermission is over, the doors are locked
act 2 is going to start with ice cream in hand
the whales are all docking and the cricket's still there
