Wake-Up Northampton, Wake-Up Me.

It has been a few days now since the huge benefit show last Saturday. The night was a huge success on many different levels. Here's some stuff that I learned:

1. It is possible to start a show at the actual advertised time.
2. It is possible to have a number of bands play and to stay on schedule.
3. It is possible to keep the audience's attention for a long period of time by simply keeping things flowing smoothly and having great music.
4. People will come out at an early time if they are confident that that is actually when things will begin.
5. People love it when there is a special reason behind a show.
6. The bands involved are all actually even better than I thought.

I had an excellent time. I also had a killer head-ache/neck-shoulder-ache the whole day and night. I think I would have been a better emcee if I hadn't.

I also learned that Max's sparkly bass is really, really difficult to play.

Since the show, I've received many great emails. Lot of them claim that the night was a great boost for local music, a re-awakening of sorts. I kind of felt the same way that night. It felt like something was happening. Seemed like maybe, even more so than Brian, we were getting our own music scene back on its feet.

As Kilgore Trout said: "You were sick, but now you're well again, and there's work to be done."
