One of the bands I play in here at school with several students recently recorded an EP at Rub Wrongways Studios and you can hear the songs if you go to myspace.com and search for Black Magic Retreat. Or maybe you can find it here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=81448516 I'm not sure how that all works- I'm not as with it when it comes to myspace.
Anyway, Black Magic Retreat is all guitar/bass/drums instrumentals (except for one spooky bit where we have my daughter crooning part of "Que Sera, Sera" in the intro). There's a strong Tool influence working here but pop/rock lovers might enjoy the sounds of "Christmas Conspiracy." It's an exciting time for me and my music students these days. This particular band has only been rehearsing together one day a week since December, while my other student band (featuring the guest vocalist from when SFTD played here) just tore the heads off the campus with a relentless 20 minute medley of 1980s hits at a performance last week and tonight I get to record a semester's worth of songs written by this prolific student singer/songwriter who does both of those things significantly better than I could even as a senior in high school and she's only just turned 15.
