Song of the Moment - "Blackbird" - Mark Mulcahy

This moment's song of the moment is the Beatles tune, "Blackbird". BBC's Radio 1 celebrated the life of John Lennon during a special show which featured artists from all over the world covering tracks from the Beatles White Album. It was presented by the album’s engineer Chris Thomas - the man responsible for records by a huge variety of artists - the Sex Pistols and Pink Floyd included.

Mark picked "Blackbird" and came up to the Rub Wrongways Studios to record it. That's Ken on Wurlitzer and Bells and me on Nylon String Guitar. Here is the mp3 courtesy of loosemusic.com: Blackbird.mp3

Speaking of Mulcahy, he'll be appearing this Saturday in Boston at The Paradise at 8:00 as part of a fund raiser for the Red Sox Foundation. Here are the details: thedise.com. Mark will be playing with his current band - Ken Maiuri, Kevin O'Rourke, and Dave Trenholm. I will be playing some keyboards and guitar and stuff with them as well, I believe. Should be fun.
