This weekend, local sensations Winterpills are recording a session in Philly for the NPR show "World Cafe". Unfortunately, regular drummer and good friend Dave Hower cannot
make it and recommended me.
You may recall the story of Jimmy Nicol. The poor/lucky sod who was called upon to replace Ringo for Beatles shows in Holland, Denmark and Australia.
He later said it was a horrible thing to look back upon--it really screwed up his life and music career.
I say, "really?" He even coined a song title. See here

I just visited the World Cafe site: If Duncan Sheik can make it, you can too. Don't worry.
BTW, have any of you watched "There and Back?" I think it's on VH1 or MTV. It's about a guy from OTown (never heard of before) trying to make a solo career. The music's not good, he's annoying, but it's interesting that the issues of making it in the music world are up front on prime time.
