Two Thousand and Jive

School for the Dead had a 4/5ths practice last night. Max, couldn't make it but the rest of us had a great time anyway. We put together a nice set-list for our big show this Friday. It's heavy on the upbeat pop and it spans the ages. We've got two songs from The New You, one song from the Chain CD, one song from Henning's School for the Dead and even a song from Big Plans for Underachievers. On top of that we have five yet to be recorded songs and a cover and a quarter.

We made some new arrangements, we pushed Brian into a style of music that he disdains, and we broke the regular SFTD protocol by having me do a guitar lead. I'm going to play electric for the whole show. We're going to be a power-pop band, I guess.

After practice, we immediately had a Fawns practice. I recently had my telecaster re-set-up and adjusted and it is a million times better. I didn't want to stop playing it even though my freshly holiday-burned finger's blister was throbbing.

Tonight we'll have a seperate Max practice. It might be just me and Max, but I think Brian will probably be there, too. It'll be fun.

Then the next night, we have a full Mark Mulcahy band practice. It's a very musical week that culminates in an SFTD show, a Mulcahy show and then the next night a Fawns show. And then, guess what? It'll be 2006. Who ever heard of 2006?

Only 2/5 of the band can use 2000-chicks.
The remaining 3/5 will need 2000-tricks to be allowed to use the chicks one.

But celebrating chicks is for everyone! Especially those that are married or whatnot.

Two thousand and dicks just doesn't have the same ring to it.

GDV has decided that for us, half of the year will be "Two Thousand and Rick's, and the other half will be Two Thousand and Nick's." We're probably going to alternate months. Of course, our keyboard player noted that the following year will be "Two Thousand and Steven."
