I'm sure that the internet has been buzzing with complaints about the atrocious coverage of the Live8 concert by MTV and VH1. Still, I feel the need to complain a little as well.
I didn't watch much of the concert. First, I kind of forgot about it, then, it was a really nice day outside, and third, when I finally did sit down to watch, I found out that is was all finishing up by 7:30. Wha??
Anyway, the little bits that I did see were hardly worth it. I guess MTV has completely given in to the notion that people really have no interest in listening to or seeing music performed. Instead of showing the magic of Stevie Wonder, they cut away to two young MTV veejays who were talking about how great Stevie Wonder was. I didn't get a chance to see a full song by any single artist, they just kept switching over to some inane interview with some dolt talking about nothing right in the middle of a performance. It was terribly frustrating.
I'm hoping someday, to get to see the Pink Floyd reunion, and I'd like to see that clip of Paul McCartney and U2 as the Lonely Hearts Club Band. It would be interesting to see a bunch of other stuff too, like Bjork. But, I don't know. It's not like I'm going to buy the DVD. So, I guess I probably just missed it.
