Speaking of new songs. Last night, Brian came over to the studio for Mike Flood Band practice. However, it turned out that Brian and I were the only ones there since it had actually been cancelled. So, we took a few minutes and went through a new School for the Dead song called "This Time It Looks Good". Brian on drums, me on acoustic guitar.
While we were playing it, I became intensely aware of how long it has been since SFTD actually did much of anything in the realm of creativity. For the last few shows, we focused all of our energy on just teaching a fill-in bassist the songs. In doing that, we had to focus mostly on the "safer" songs. Nothing new, nothing adventurous. That's not how it's supposed to be.
