What is it about George and English teachers? Tonight Christmas party for the student teachers found me playing some guitar (our last assignment in our seminar class was to write an account of our experience set to a holiday carol so I brought the six-string along). I feel so slovenly when it comes to playing familiar tunes- I don't know Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" and I certainly haven't a clue about Matchbox 20's "Unwell" (I'm familiar with their song that has Carlos Santana on it but that's about it). Anyway, I admitted the only songs I really knew well enough for an informal singalong were Beatles songs. All five English teacher people present (student teachers and veteran teachers alike) admitted that George was our fave, no question, so we traipsed through Here Comes The Sun, My Sweet Lord, a snatch of Something, Guitar Gently Weeps, and we even started What Is Life before abandoning it for some more well-known Maclen standards (Hard Days' Night, Dear Prudence, etc.) Gah! How could I have forgotten All Things Must Pass? If they knew What Is Life, certainly they would've known that one too.
Okay, okay, gotta get back to work...
