Each autumn I say the same thing. I've still got the blood of a student in me. When the crisp air hits and the leaves start to dry up, my mind turns to thoughts of getting things done and organizing the interior world. I imagine myself staying indoors, being creative and being productive.

Is "The New You" an autumn album? Maybe only time will tell what season it sits in best, but I can imagine it working well with the first frost and the smell of smashed pumpkin on the road.

Have you given that album a chance? If you enjoy it and you have some time and some creative yearnings please feel free to head on over to Amazon.com and write a little review (just search for "school for the dead"). How else are all these curious strangers going to know if they want to pick one up or not? Just don't tell them we sent you, 'cause that would be really lame if we did that, even though that's what we are doing. It'll be our little secret, hey?

I don't know. I haven't written a full new song in quite a while. I've been pretty involved in other people's projects lately. My creativity has been spread thin maybe. I've got a bunch on the back burner though. Bits and pieces. Scraps.

I'm jonesing to do some creative recording. There was a time, in the days of the 4-track, when I would record just to record and some good stuff came out of that. These days, I can't seem to find the time or maybe the motivation. I'd like to do an instrumental album.

Gradually Max is weaning himself out of the band. Out of all the bands, actually. He's got much larger and better things to attend to. I'll let him tell you what.

Our November 4th show at The Middle East in Cambridge will be Maxless. Strange. We are trying, of course, to pick a fill-in Max from the huge line waiting outside my door. Oh wait, no...those are bill collectors.

Is there nothing happening in my world for Halloween? Why don't I have a gig? I have a wig. I have a bass rig. A stuffed elephant named Mr. Biggs. Dig? No gig.

We actually only have two gigs booked right now. What's up with that?
