In promotion of the big CD Release Party this Saturday, I have been hanging up some huge flyers. When we had our discs printed we also had 100 School For The Dead posters printed. They are just generic (though, very nice looking and colorful) flyers with our name, a picture of The New Frog, and a space to write in information. So, I have been making a few each night (it's not a quick process since we have so many openers) and then hanging them up in strategic places around town like Dynamite, Turn It Up, Downtown Sounds, Masonic Street Laundry etc.

The one that I put up outside the Guild Art Center has been taken. That could either be a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe someone took it because they wanted it for their wall. Maybe someone took it because they hate us. Either way, when a poster actually costs some significant money and takes time to hand-write - it's kind of an extra bummer when it is removed.

I left one with an employee at the counter of La Veracruzana because she said they would put it in the window but it isn't there as far as I can tell.

Last night, I designed a quick simple version and printed them at Paradise Copies this morning. Max, is also making one. So, get ready for an onslaught.

I went to Night Owl Records last night and dropped off a few of the larger posters and I stopped by P.A.C.E. to see what it was like without the theatre seats (and to drop off some more posters - my marker writing had just about entirely faded from the ones in the window).

The room is still very nice. There's a bit of an echo now but I think human bodies will absorb that. The folding chairs are not going to be nearly as comfortable as the old theater seats but they won't be bad. The room feels much bigger now and the stage looked good. I think everyone is going to enjoy themselves. We've got people coming from all over to this show. Some from Philly, New Haven, and Boston for example.

But, something a little disconcerting has been happening. I've been running into some folks who I assume would have heard about our show but who knew nothing about it. The grape vine isn't working very well, it seems. Maybe the big postering campaign will help.

Sometimes I think that the internet gives me a false sense of effectiveness. I need to keep in mind that not everybody reads this Rockumentary (understatement of the year), or gets our mailings, or visits Masslive's Soundboard. In fact, most people don't.

I haven't been having too much luck with the local press - mostly my own fault since I was away during the critical week for such things and my timing was off (either too early or too late). We should have a mention in The Gazette on Thursday and I'm not sure about any of the others. I certainly sent out a lot of press releases and some discs. WRSI and WRNX both have The New You and WMUA has been playing tracks from it.

Anyway, if anybody has any suggestions for some last minute promotion ideas let me know. And please pass on the info about the show to your friends and family if you think they might care. The more people that show up, the more fun it is going to be for everyone.
