The more I think about it, the more I want to stuff the ballot box with votes for PACE for the cd release. I remember talking to Henning about it but forget why he thought it might not be the best venue. PACE has lots of great things going for it: it's all-ages; the sound is good, seating comfortable, you can buy beer and good food; and there is an area for dancing that one lady. We would probably make a little more money than if we had it at either of the two bigger Noho venues, and we would likely be able to pick our opener.
Reasons not to do it at other performance spaces:
Iron Horse - tough to put enough people in the room to make it profitable. Not that we need to make a profit, but it would be nice. And it's stressful thinking about a certain number of tickets we would need to sell to cover our asses. That being said, the Horse gets my second vote.
The Elevens - I like to play there, but can be hard when you are trying to mix the listening crowd with the drinking crowd.
Eagles/WWII - Smoke. Smoke. Smoke.
Grandstands - I like that we could have a movie playing behind us, but not really a fun place to play.
The Flywheel - No. No. No.
I also like the idea of doing it somewhere that doesn't usually have rock shows, like Jake's or the police station.
