What is this "music" that ruled my youth? Shouldn't I be taking life a little more seriously?

These are the dark forces that speak to me in my weaker moments, and I guess millions of others, I can only assume, after reading about the cancelation of Lollapalooza.

Ok, I just didn't get around to ordering tickets yet--I was gonna! My worry was actually "it'll probably sell out--better act soon"

There's no denying that this lineup appealed to people between the ages of 25-35. And, we ask ourselves, do we want to spend 8 hours in the sun/rain watching bands? At our age?

Well, damn--the mean age of Sonic Youth/Morrissey/Flaming Lips/organizer Perry Farrell is 40. 40!!! Maybe 42? But THEY are taking their lives of playing music QUITE seriously. It's an important role to play. They're doing amazing work, and we should be listening. It;s not like The Eagles--I'm sure none of these artists own small islands and 10 mansions.
Yeah, these are depressing times, news-wise, but so was the late 60's when music served as inspiration and information.

Ugh. The cancellation of this is probably the sign of a much larger problem. (God, how bad WERE those ticket sales? Don't tell me, I don't wanna know).

I just hope more people turn out to vote in November.
