The other night at practice, Brian inserted a snippet of melody into my head, one which neither of us could place. We both seemed pretty sure the melody hailed from the 60s and was a famous theme song of some kind. I kept seeing one of those cartoon credits sequences like at the beginning of Mad Mad Mad Mad World or Pillow Talk or some Jerry Lewis movie. But I just couldn't name the tune. Then I was almost positive it was from the opening to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and yet it wasn't Pure Imagination, Cheer Up Charlie, Golden Ticket or Candy Man.

Finally today at work, I had a breakthrough. Instead of hearing strings playing the piece, I thought maybe there was some jazzy piano in there and it nearly clicked. One of the Vince Guaraldi/ Charlie Brown tunes? Maybe? Maybe? Nope. Wait, wait, don't tell me. YES! Dave Brubeck, "Take Five" when the major chords hit. That's it, Brian. Now we can rest. Never do that to me again.
