As of July 5th, all Massachusetts bars will be smoke-free! I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I think we are going to see a rise in attendance at shows. I'll no longer wake up the next day with a scratchy throat and smoke-hangover. My clothes won't be constantly smelling like smoke. My friends who work full-time in those places won't be breathing in toxic fumes all night long. My friends who smoke, might smoke a little less. My friends who are struggling to keep not smoking will find it easier. My asthmatic friends can come out. Eventually, when the stink works it's way out of the carpets and walls, I won't be greeted by that stale odor when I go to work the sound board. No more burning eyes. No more running nose. No more burns on the carpet. No more spilled ashtrays to clean-up when I'm working. This is awesome - thank you to all you proactive people out there who saw this through. You have greatly improved my life and the lives of most of the people I know.
