As I was leaving my apartment today I heard the next one over listening to "Fixing a Hole" and it struck me (coincidence or not), June 18 is either Paul Mccartney's birthday or the day Sgt. Pepper came out in 1967. I used to listen to it every year on that day--but it's been a little while since the last time, so I dunno.
As I was leaving last night to go to the Iron Horse, it suddenly struck me--in June of 1994, 10 years ago, a young Ken Maiuri and a young me played together live for the first time on the Iron Horse stage--it was an open mic, and after us, they banned electric bands. I think Ken has the tape--the band was Sourpuss and I think we did 3 songs, maybe 4. One of which I wrote (the music anyway--Todd the singer did all the words) that I don't remember the title of (he had crazy titles).
One of my only memories of that show was standing outside the Iron Horse with Todd and a guy asking us, "Yo, got any endo?". I had no idea what that meant. Todd and I said no and later giggled about it. Later I heard Madonna ask Dave Letterman during her unruly appearance on his show in '94 or '95, "Dave do you smoke endo?" People might assume that I'm hip, but I'm not really.
So last night's show was a blast. My brother Eric was there, from California. He'd never seen me play at a real show.
I think Max and I were not totally on because I convinced Max to do a shot of Cuervo with me. We were loose.
I'd write more but it's time to go home.
