It seems like most of my posts lately are just links to other places or quotes from them. I blame the February weather.
Here's another one. This is from The New Haven Advocate about our show tomorrow at The Space. Yee:
"For Friday, Feb. 20, The Space has concocted an eight-hour event well worth your time--especially if you're into penalty boxes and shin guards. "Punk Rock Hockey" features eleven bands and an outdoor street hockey rink. If you're going to do a hockey-themed show in Connecticut, there's one band that you absolutely have to book: The Zambonis , the nationally known uniform-wearing outfit which grew out of the incestuous 1990s Fairfield pop scene which brought us Those Melvins , The Philistines Jr. , The Happiest Guys in the World , Joybuzzer and Big Train . With a clean-as-ice pop band at the forefront of Punk Rock Hockey Day, and a bunch of other relatively cleancut or trad-rock acts on the bill--School for the Dead, doublethink, The Sawtelles, Planeside, Puckish--where are the punks? Well, Beener's Revenge, The Teles, The Dead 50s, Brunch Mummies (Internationale) and The Battlecats--all of which would need something hyphenated next to the word "punk" to properly describe them--will have to do. Then there's Puckish, which we assume was chosen for the event strictly due to their hockey-friendly moniker.
The show starts at 3 in the afternoon. As with all Space events, all ages are welcome. As far as the street sports are concerned, the club says "Bring your own sticks. Nets and playing area provided." Guess that goes for the drummer too."
Hear that, Brian? Bring your own sticks, pal.
